Core inflation unchanged

Overall inflation may have dipped into negative territory for the first time since early 2010 but if we strip out energy products (-5.5% in the year) and mortgage interest (-10.6% in the year) which between them count for 15 per cent of the overall index then ‘core’ inflation was little changed in December.
